Become an Affiliate

If you came to this page, there's a chance that you want to affiliate with Cavern of Mew. If so, please read through the following requirements and preferences. You may think that it's all a little boring, but there could be one little thing wrong with your site that makes the difference between becoming an affiliate or not.

General Rules

• No adult content at all - PG-13 at most.
• No illegal material, such as ROMs or illegal music downloads.
• English sites preferred, but other languages may be accepted into 'International Affiliates'.
• Normally, I only affiliate with other Pokémon fansites, but exceptions can be made.
• No stolen material.
• Make sure I can actually read your content - watch your grammar and spelling.

Now read this lump of text.

The main things I look for in a site are the same as any other webmaster or -mistress does; a nice layout, and good content. I don't like sites with bright colours, heavy contrasting or flashing .GIFs, as I mostly go on the Internet at night, when I am rather tired. If something hurts my eyes, I won't affiliate with your site. The fact that you need good content is the most important part, at least in my opinion. My view is that there's no point in having a website if the content isn't interesting. I don't have a minimum number of pages you need, but instead judge the content on the quality; how interesting it is, how much your personality is reflected in your writing, how humorous I find your writing, and other factors like these.

I expect there to be absolutely no adult content, such as pornography or hentei, and no other illegal material, like ROMs or illegal music downloads, on your site. This is simply because I do not wish for my site to be affiliated with a site that has this kind of content; it's bad for my site's reputation, may put visitors of my site off staying, or generally shock people should they click your affiliation link, expecting to see a moderately child-friendly Pokémon fansite. I may allow some content over PG-13 if there is a clear warning before someone enters the page in question. Please note that stolen content is counted as "illegal material" unless the original owner is credited, as it is a breach of copyright law to steal another's work.

I will allow sites in all languages to be affiliated with me, but it may take me a while longer to get back to you. I need to check the content of your site. I can do this much faster in English, French and German because I can understand these languages fairly well, but I will rely on Google Translate for any other languages.

I generally only allow Pokémon sites to be affiliated with Cavern of mew, as this website is, obviously, a Pokémon fansite. This is because affiliated sites are supposed to have similar themes, and this matches the theme of this site. However, while Pokémon sites are preferred to a great extent, I may make exceptions.

The occasional spelling mistake is allowed, but if everything is spelled like you're a 4 year old, your site will be rejected for affiliation. I prefer sites with good grammar, and I am indeed slightly obsessive over this. I may still affiliate with your site if the content and layout are good but the grammar is rubbish; if I do, it's simply because I like your site.

...Which brings me on to the last thing that influences my decision to affiliate with you or not; my emotions. If you have mediocre grammar, acceptable content and graphics made in MS Paint, I may still accept your affiliation request if I like your site. Normally, I like sites if the graphics (not necessarily the on the layout), or if I feel that someone can connect to the content writer while reading; I will also prefer your site if I knew you previously to the request. To put it in simple terms: I'm biased, get over it.

Ranking

There is no 'ranking' of my affiliates determined by number of pages or hits, but there are four possible categories: Sibling Sites, Friend Sites, Affiliates, and International Affiliates.
Sibling sites are the same thing as partner sites to me. As you can see, Sibling Sites and Friend Sites are rather exclusive, and get a slightly more obvious link, with one of their buttons; both of these are rather exclusive, so, in general, don't bother attempting to apply for these categories. With both Sibling and Friend sites, I will only accept the sites of people I know well, and only when we both agree to have our sites as partners or friends. Everyone with an eligible site in English can apply to be a regular affiliate, and non-English sites will be placed in the International Affiliates category.
